Not eating Selat Solo while you’re in the city means missing out on the local version of salad. The name itself may sound like salad, and in some way it is. However, this is Solo’s local salad which is served with sweet, watery sauce. The main ingredients for Selat Solo are fried or boiled potatoes, boiled carrots, boiled string beans, boiled eggs, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, small sliced cucumbers and braised beef tenderloin. It is usually served with a spoon of homemade mayonnaise; if mixed with the sauce, it will add a fresh and savory taste.
The most popular places to enjoy Selat Solo are: Selat Solo Mbak Lies in Jalan Veteran 42, Serengan (open at 8:00AM-5:00PM), Kusuma Sari Restaurant in Jalan Yos Sudarso 81 (open at 9:00AM) and Selat Vien’s in Jalan Hassanudin 115 (open from 7:30AM to 5:00PM)
