Steam loco Jaladara or that called Sepur Kluthuk Jaladara has crossed on the railway of Surakarta since September 27th, 2009, which was inaugurated by the Minister of Transportation Mr. Jusman Syafei’i Djamal with the Governor of Central Java Mr. Bibit Waluyo and the Mayor of Solo city Mr. Joko Widodo in Loji Gandrung, government official’s house of the Mayor of Solo. One series of steam loco consist of a C 1218 series and two series of passenger carriages, TR 144 and TR 16. The locomotive of Jaladara steam loco is made in Germany in 1896, drawn from Palagan Ambarawa Museum, while the carriages from Magelang and Bandung.
The inauguration of Surakarta tourism steam loco was very lively, the railway coach were decorated with a batik cloth and wrapped with black cloth, the launch of the steam loco marked by breaking of a jug by the Minister of Transportation and accompanied by the Mayor and the vice mayor of Solo, witnessed by thousand of Solo society.
Jaladara steam loco will be operating 2 times in a week that is every Saturday and Sunday from Purwosari Station to Sangkrah Station with approximately 5.6 kilometer long. This route will passed Slamet Riyadi street, the main road of Solo and scheduled to be stopped for few minutes at several places on one round trip, including the Kampong of Laweyan, Loji Gandrung, Ngapeman, Pasar Pon, The Palace, Gladag, and others.
Jaladara steam loco can carry a maximum of 80 passengers with a cost of 3.250.000 IDR. This cost is used to pay for fuel in the form of five cubic meters of teak woods and 3 machinists with 3 assistant machinists who turned on the train. To enjoy this service package, one round trip fee charged 360.000 IDR each person (package of 25 passengers), 290.000 IDR (package of 35 passengers), and 150.000 IDR (package of 80 passengers).
The trip of Jaladara steam loco also provides service package includes a welcome drink that is traditional herbal drinks (jamu) and snacks, traditional live music during the trip, souvenir as sampir or slayer, traditional arts attractions such as reog or jatilan, travel guides, Batik Museum admission and coffee break.
The Mayor of Surakarta hopes that with the Jaladara steam loco will be an attraction of Surakarta city.
