The Wayang Gogon Studio produces puppets every day, no matter whether there are orders or not. This aims to fulfill the request of collectors who want to buy a set of puppets. Relying on only five to seven people in the process, a set of puppets can take up to two months to complete.
The process of making puppets begins when buffalo skin that has been tanned, dried in a way stretched so that the skin becomes wide and strong, then given a puppet pattern according to the character. After that the skin will be fixed according to the pattern that has been made. The next process is the coloring and administration of pinch from buffalo horns. All are done using only hand skills and using tools that are relatively simple, but still of high quality, no wonder one medium-sized puppet figure can be valued at hundreds of thousands of rupiah.
The price of puppets is usually offered from IDR 250,000 to IDR 1.5 million for one puppet depending on its size and smoothness. A set of puppets usually sells for Rp100 million, but for very fine puppets and using gold paint, the price can reach more than 200 million.
